Classic protestantism never threw out tradition.  This is a modern idea
which sprung up in the last 100 years.  The protestant cry of "sola
scriptura" means that the bible is the final, not the only, authority.
We all use some form of tradition when we read the bible, there really
isn't anyway to get around it.
