Have you noticed a drop in membership in the USA since prohibition
banned alcohol at the festive board? :-) )

I was told the government banned smoking in July so that people could
nip out side for a smoke in the nice summer weather (floods permitting

The idea is that as the nights get cooler  people will be less inclined
to go out for a smoke and the effect will be noticed gradually.

As with all things there will be a protest to start with and then over a
short (Masonic) time, say 5-10 years , it will all be forgotten about
and smoke free will be normal.
